│0.2 │ About MegaTIC ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
Within FIDO-Net and other compatible Networks, files (Usefiles) are
distributed together with Info-Files (TIC-Files).
MegaTIC is a TIC-Processor, that means, he is able to do all works,
which can occur, according to this standard.
The mainfunctions are :
- analyzing of incoming files
- copy them into your BBS
- distribute these files to your connected downlinks

╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
The installation of MegaTIC is quite simple. Just call the batch-file
INSTALL. Four subdirectories will be created.
The first is \MFM. Here will be saved MegaTIC-File-Macros.
This are default-templates, when writing mails to users.
The second subdirectory is called \DATA and will hold all
configuation files, eg. for Packers, FileEchos, Groups, Users, AKAs aso.
The third is \INFOS and holds files with different informations.
In the fourth \PAL you can find palette-files for the setup.
Now call the program MTIC.EXE

░░░░░░░░░░░░░░░
■ [ ] Inbound CRC checking
MegaTIC calulates the CRC-sum for incoming files and compares it with
the value, given in the TIC-file. If they are not the the same, one of
the following actions will be commited.
░░░░░░░░░░░░░░
░░ CRC Fail ░░
░░░░░░░░░░░░░░
■ ( ) Leave if CRC fails
MegaTIC exits the TIC-procedure for this file. TIC-file and Usefile stay

Moves TIC-file and Usefile into the BAD-directory.
■ ( ) Ignore if CRC fails
┌─ MegaTIC Version 1.32 Seite 10

MegaTIC ignores different results and continues with the TIC-procedure.
For outgoing TIC-Files, MegaTIC calculates the correct CRC-sum.

Usually you can find a file named FILE_ID.DIZ in archives, which is
an extended description for the archive and its files.
Using the right packer, MegaTIC can extract these file from the archive
and use it as description for the Usefile, when ticking it into the
BBS-Filebase.
■ [ ] Use FILE_ID.DIZ if no Desc
Only extract FILE_ID.DIZ from the archive, if no description found
in TIC-file.
■ [ ] Use always FILE_ID.DIZ
Always try to extract FILE_ID.DIZ from the archive.
If this file doesn't exist, use the description, found in TIC-file.
■ [ ] Add FILE_ID.DIZ from LongDesc
If there is no FILE_ID.DIZ in an archive, the file is created
using the LongDesc from the TIC-File and added to the archive.
■ [ ] Add banner to archive
Add Bannerfile to the archive. (s. 2.5/Banner File).
■ [ ] LongDesc in one textline
Do not format contents of FILE_ID.DIZ. Add the full description
to BBS-Filebase and do not care how to display.
■ [ ] Strip Hi-Bit ASCII-Character
Strips all ASCII-characters above the value 127 form the description.

■ [ ] Sync Filebase on startup
When starting MegaTIC, the fileechos area synchronized with the ones
from your BBS. That means, new names or pathsettings are taken over from
your BBS, deleted echos will be deleted in MegaTIC, too, and moved echos
are searched at an other position.
─═ HINT ═─
If you don't set this switch, errors can occur, because changes in
your BBS are not taken over to MegaTIC.
The following strategy uses MegaTIC, if this switch is set to ON :
<Does echo with number xxx still exist ? And are either name or path
still the same ?>
>YES< -> Get either new name or new path from BBS
>NO< -! If neither name nor path are the same as before, the echo
has been deleted or moved.
-> Search echo at another position in BBS. Either name or
path must be found.
<Echo found at an other position ?>
>YES< -> Get new values
>NO< -> Delete echo from MegaTIC-configuration
■ [ ] Make Backup of CFG-Files
On startup the config-files are renamed.
MegaTIC renames the extensions *.CFG -> *.BFG and *.SUB -> *.BUB.
■ [ ] Suppress ext. screen output
Screen output of external programs like compression programs or
scanners are suppressed.

│3.6 │ The Forward-System of MegaTIC ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
With help of the Foward-Manager, MegaTIC can execute Forward-Requests.
If there are any fileareas, which area not available on your system,
but you could get them from your uplink, your downlinks can request
these fileareas by using MegaTIC.
If a downlink wants a filearea from you, which is not available on your
system but your Uplink has it, MegaTIC can create a Forward-Request,
┌─ MegaTIC Version 1.32 Seite 35
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
and connect you to this filearea.
For that MegaTIC sends a Netmail to the TIC-processor of your uplink,
with the command, to connect you to the wanted filearea.
Simultaneous your downlink gets a Mail with the content, that the
filearea has to be requested from your uplink, before it's abailable on
your system.
─═ EXAMPLE ═─
A downlink requests the fileecho TNT_BBS from your system, but that is not
available. MegaTIC scans the arealist of your uplink, if the echo is
available on his system.
If the requested echo is found, MegaTIC checks some secutity-settings
before writing a Forward-Request:
- The downlink has to be connected to the filegroup, to which the
successful Forward-Manager-Entry belongs, too.
- In the Sub-AKA-Entry of the downlink, which has the same zone-number
like the filegroup of the Forward-Manager, the switch "Allow forward
requests" must be set (s. 4.2/Sub-AKA/Switches).

│6.2 │ Environment ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
Usually all config-files area stored in the subdirectory \DATA.
If you want to specify an explicit data-path, you can set the
environment-variable SET MEGATIC=<pathname> in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
─═ EXAMPLE ═─
To store all config-files in F:\MEGATIC\DATA, insert this line into
your AUTOEXEC.BAT :
SET MEGATIC=F:\MEGATIC
─═ HINT ═─
MegaTIC takes always the SET MEGATIC-setting + \DATA to locate the
config-files.
┌─────┬─────────────────────────────────────────╖
│6.3 │ Errorlevel ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
If nothing occurs, MegaTIC ends with errorlevel 0.
Some situations force MEgaTIC, to end with an other errorlevel.
The errorlevels, MegaTIC can end with, are listed below :
ERRORLEVEL MEANING
250 A new filearea was created
242 Files were moved to the BAD-directory
241 At least one files was TICed successfully
240 MegaTIC has created netmails
0 Normal terminating

For Maximus-users is this example, that decides, whether the
CTL-file compiler SILT.EXE has to be executed, or not.

│6.4 │ Other files/MTIC.BSY ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
MegaTIC creates a file MTIC.BSY in the LOG-path, that will be deleted,
if MegaTIC terminates normally.
If eg. a Runtime-Error occurs, this file is not deleted.
So you can see, if such an error occured, or not. If you want to continue
using MegaTIC, you have to delete the file first.

│6.4 │ Working with errors ║
╘═════╧═════════════════════════════════════════╝
If you work with MegaTIC, different errors can occur.
Causes and possible solutions are described here.

for RemoteAccess) cannot be opened, to insert the new filearea.
2.) No free entry in this file was found, or the file cannot be
expanded.
S: 1.) Check, if the file (eg. FILES.RA) is NOT opened or used by
an other program, while MegaTIC is running.
2.) Check, if a free entry sill resides in the config-file, so that
the upper limit of fileareas is not exceeded.
More informations you will find in the documentation of your
BBS-Software.
* S *********************************************************************

into.
S: Check if user xxx has one of the following rights for the fileecho
(User/Button:"Echos") : "RECEIVE (R)" or "BOTH (B)".
If the user has only the right "ON (■)", set the selectfield "Connect"
